8 February 2021

Frequent eating disorders can cause many problems during pregnancy and lactation. That is why it is extremely important for a woman to consume only natural products and give up junk food.

How can pregnant women plan their diet correctly?

Planning a pregnancy must be taken very seriously. One of the important responsibilities of expectant mothers is proper nutrition, because the baby receives the nutrition it needs for development only from the mother’s body.

First half of pregnancy

  1. Eat a variety of foods, do not take long breaks between meals.
  2. If you are concerned about toxicosis, give up fatty foods, eat more fruits and vegetables.
  3. The diet should include meat, fish, vegetables and fruits, dairy products, eggs.
  4. Take the vitamins and minerals your doctor prescribes for you. Lack or shortage of vitamins can lead to serious consequences.

Second half of pregnancy

  1. During this period, the fetus grows faster, the load on the body of the expectant mother also increases: liver, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, it is worth limiting the consumption of salty foods, smoked and fried products.
  2. Many pregnant women suffer from constipation during this period. This problem can be solved by eating foods rich in fiber: prunes, dried apricots and other dried fruits, vegetables, cereals, bran.

Remember to keep track of your body weight. Being overweight is bad for gestation and can make childbirth more difficult. Optimal weight gain over the entire period of pregnancy is 10-12 kg.

Nutrition for a nursing mother

  1. It is important for a nursing mother to eat healthy and consume varied products.
  2. It is better to give up cakes, sweets, sodas and fatty foods.
  3. It is not recommended to consume allergenic foods: condensed milk, citrus fruits, strawberries, tomatoes, chocolate and cocoa, honey.
  4. Drink liquids as much as possible.

In fact, the diet of a nursing mother should be no different from her nutrition during the period of bearing a child. A special diet can be followed when the mother of the child is severely allergic or the family is malnourished.

And finally, a memo to pregnant and lactating mothers:

  • the menu should be varied;
  • eat more fruits and vegetables;
  • eat steamed, baked or boiled foods;
  • ask your doctor about the additional intake of the vitamin complex;
  • it is better to give up sugar, carbonated drinks and fats;
  • never drink alcohol and quit smoking.
