IVF methods – high chances of getting pregnant

4 November 2020

When a woman has been unable to get pregnant naturally for many years, the only option remaining is to resort to assisted reproductive technologies. The most popular reproductive technology is IVF (in vitro fertilization). This progressive method has helped millions of infertile couples find the joy of parenting and have their own healthy children

What is the IVF method?

For many years now, in vitro fertilization has been considered an effective method of artificial insemination in the laboratory. The method of in vitro fertilization allows you to successfully treat infertility, regardless of its cause.

IVF is the traditional method for achieving pregnancy without intercourse. It involves extracting mature eggs from a woman’s ovaries, and her partner donates sperm. This procedure is carried out in exclusively sterile laboratory conditions of embryology.

Here’s when to go for IVF:

  • male factor of infertility;
  • immunological factor of infertility;
  • absence of fallopian tubes or their obstruction;
  • diseases in which pregnancy can threaten the health and life of a woman;
  • poor quality of germ cells does not allow pregnancy to occur naturally.

IVF is a problem of infertility in the past

To increase the chances of success of the IVF procedure, you can resort to additional methods of assisted reproductive technologies and here are the most popular:

  • Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI, ICSI) means the sperm is “manually” injected into the cytoplasm of the egg using special micromanipulators. The selection of spermatozoa is performed according to visual signs: appearance and mobility, morphology. The main difference between ICSI and the usual procedure of in vitro fertilization is that fertilization does not take place in a test tube, with the introduction of a sperm cell into the cytoplasm of the egg. The ICSI method has become a major breakthrough in the field of assisted reproductive technologies and is especially in demand in the treatment of severe forms of male infertility. It gave the opportunity to have children to many men.
  • Physiological intracytoplasmic sperm injection (PICSI, PIXI). This method involves the selection of the most viable sperm for successful fertilization. It is performed taking into account not only their “appearance”, but also their molecular maturity. The PICSI method is especially suitable for couples with low semen counts and abnormal sperm counts. Other indications may include cases of frequent miscarriages, missed pregnancies and unfavorable fetal development.
